Facebook removes 20% image text rule
Content designers and advertisers rejoice! Facebook has recently abandoned it's long-standing rule for ad images having no more than 20% text. The purpose of the rule was originally intended to reduce noise in the News Feed, but as the platform evolved and began to roll out new ad types that were far more flashy and 'in your face', the old rule was kicked to the curb. Advertisers no longer have to use the dreaded text overlay tool to check if their ad doesn't go over the 20% restriction, leaving more creative freedom for their images. Facebook still recommends keeping text on images to a minimum as they generally perform better.
